Marjorie L. Markle Spencer, 45, of Ahwatukee, AZ passed away on August 5, 2008. Marj was born on July 27, 1963 in Cooperstown, NY to Naomi and Sam Markle. After graduation from SUNY Fredonia in 1985 with her BS in accounting Marj moved to AZ. She earned her CPA in 1986. She was currently employed as the Chief Financial Officer of the law firm of Gallagher and Kennedy. Marj was devoted to her family and friends, volunteering in her many church-related activities, Young Life, Awana, outdoor recreation, spiritual enrichment, Marj was beloved by all who knew her. Marj is survived by her sons, Timothy Stephen Markle and Joshua Dillon Spencer; her mother, Naomi; her brothers, Stephen Paul (Patricia) Markle of Alexandria, Virginia and Timothy Charles (Lisa) Markle of Jacksonville, Florida. She is preceded in death by her father Sam Markle. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 pm on Tuesday, August 12th at Arizona Community Church, 9325 S. Rural Rd., Tempe. All will be welcomed to a reception immediately following the memorial service at the same location. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to: Young Life, 127 West Juanita Ave., Suite 216, Mesa, AZ 85210, with a memo: In Memory of Marjorie L. Spencer. She was a devoted mother, daughter, sister, niece, aunt and cousin, she will be eternally missed by all who knew and loved her. Arrangements entrusted to Tempe Mortuary.
Marj was a great friend to me, and I am grateful of the time I got to spend with her. When I think back to those times, I will do so fondly. One of my favorite memories of Marj was her 'Round of applause' at our 3:00 department meetings. I loved that and it always made me laugh. Losing her is, without saying, heartbreaking. My warmest thoughts go out to her family.
