Dear June: We are so sorry to hear of Jack’s death. While we lost contact with you over the years we have thought of you two so often. Both you and Jack were such a joy to be around when we lived in Birmingham and his participation as best man in our wedding was something to remember in and of itself. It doesn’t seem that long ago that we also attended your wedding too. Most important to us was Jack’s smile: something so infectious and warm and something that always stayed with us. Sincerely, Barbara and Jimmy Powell

We were hit with a certain sadness when we heard of Jack's death. After reflecting for only a moment, we realized he had only transitioned into a pain free life. Our hearts go out to you as you adjust to life without him.

Mrs. Bulow, I know you will not be able to read this right away, but I wanted to say what I might not be able to say in person to you. Mr. Bulow was a wonderful man and boss. During all the years I knew and worked for him I never knew him to make a person feel small and unimportant, in fact, he made me feel as if I was as good as any of the librarians, despite the fact I did not have a library degree they had, just the experience. He made me feel I was an important part of the library staff. He made me feel he was my friend. He has been in my prayers and will remain so. I will also pray for you, for I know how hard it will be going on without him. Please let me know if I can be of any help and know I am thinking about you.

Uncle Jack will always hold a very special place in my heart. He could always make me smile just be saying "Junebug". He will be greatly missed and you are in our prayers.

I worked at the BPL in the mid seventies when I was 19. I remember we had a special Arbor Day deal where the library gave patrons and employees free trees. I remember Jack being excited about it and handing me a dogwood tree for my grandmother. My grandmother is gone now and the house belongs to someone else but the dogwood is still there. I think of those days at the BPL and Jack is a pleasant part of those memories because of his kindness and enthusiasm. God Bless his family
