Thomas Kaufmann Obituary
Age 44, of Sunset Circle, Tioga, PA, died September 2, 2008. He was the husband of Denise Gee Kaufmann whom he married July 7, 1984. Tom was born November 2, 1963 in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late Adolph and Grace James Kaufmann. He was a Mental Health Therapist for Family Services of Chemung County, NY, and Director of Social Work Services for Elmira City School District. Tom was of the Unitarian Universalist faith, member of the Twisted Spokes Bicycle Club, active with the Old Home Days Committee in Tioga, and enjoyed running and biking and loved the outdoors. Surviving are his wife, Denise; daughter, Kelsey Kaufmann, Tioga, PA; son, Joshua Kaufmann, Tioga, PA; mother-in-law, Wilda Gee, Lawrenceville, PA; many brothers and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Friends and family are invited to Tom's Life Celebration on Saturday, September 6, 2008, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Sunday, September 7, 2008, from 12:00-2:00 p.m. at Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, a "Life Celebration Home", 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA. Funeral on Sunday at 2:00 p.m. with Jenny Monroe, Lay Person, officiating. If desired, memorials may be made in his memory to the SPCA. www.lifecelebration.com

Dear Kaufmann family-My prayers are with you at this time. Tom counseled me at the Horizon House. I am the writer of the yellow memory paper of Tom. He was my worker from 2002-2005 at the Horizon House. I found him to be very down to earth and easy to like. He has never been very far away from my thoughts. I belong to a group that used Tom's office on Thursday afternoon at Family Services. Even though; he was no longer my worker at Horizon House. I have known Tom for seventeen years and he was an amazing person.Tom was like a father figure to me and helped me so much.I know I dont know his family but I feel like I do because he talked about them often.I feel like I have a big hole in my heart and something missing but I also know Tom is an angel now and he will be with all of us forever in our hearts.My thoughts and prayers are with his family.I will forever take everything Tom has ever taught me with me for the rest of my life and he will forever be in my heart.I miss you Tom and may God bless you and your family.I will miss you forever.Tom was an amazing person who cared about everyone and touched so many lives.He made a difference in my life and that is the reason why I am in school to become a social worker because of the difference he made in my life.God Bless you Tom and thanks for everything you ever did for me,thanks for being there for me whenever I needed it.

Denise, Kelsey, Josh-
I say this with a heavy heart and all my love.I know theres a time in life when it's just not fair and that time is now. I know the feeling of losing a loved one that your very attached to and that is very important to you. I know there isn't much to change now and we wish we could. Tom was a really amazing person. He brought smiles to sad faces, he brought excitement to the dullest moments of our lives, he had faith in our softball team, he loved his family unconditionally, he cheered on Kelsey and the team at all the games, he was active and healthy, he was full of life and love, he lived his life to aspects most wouldn't do or were capable of, he loves you will all the love inside of him. Denise, Kelsey, and Josh your dad was one of the most caring and loving person I have ever met. He's definitely one of those people I will never ever forget. He's truly an amazing person and I'm proud and honored to have gotten to know him. I want you guys to know that he will always be with you no matter what he's always going to be there. You may not be able to see him and you wish you could but he's always there.Denise, Kelsey, and Josh, I want you guys to know that I will always be here for you no matter what. i know you are going threw a realy hard time. uncle tom was one of the best warm hearted people in tioga and i know it seems that its not far but god has a plan you you three. if you ever need me im only a phone call away im here if you just want to talk for hours and hours and im here for advice.

My deepest condolences to you and your family. I have known Tom for six years and he was truly a very caring and talented individual. He had spoke well and lovingly about his family. The world has lost a very great person. I know that I will miss him. Tom truly had the talent for his career.

I am very sorry for your loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Tom was so full of life, always smiling and carefree, he was a great support and caring boss.
Tom supervised me through the Mental Health School Program and helped me through some stressful times while I was finishing my Masters Degree in Social Work. I am greatful for his support and guidance and I will miss him deeply.
Tom's positive attitude, supportive guidance, and kindness will really be missed.
May you find peace and comfort now and in the days ahead.

John and I would like to express our condolences for your loss. We had the fortune to meet all of you as you attended our wedding at Hill Top Inn 9 years ago. We both commented on how Tom sat at the table with his children to color and complete the children's activities we had provided. Life isn't fair and no one ever knows why our loved ones are taken from us long before they should be.Tom must have quite a task awaiting him in heaven helping others with his love and compassion.May the pain of grief become lost in the cherished memories. I would like to express my deepest symptany to Tom's family. I will remember him as the voice yelling encouragement to his daughter and all her teammates at her softball games,no matter how they were doing he was there with a encouraging shout. Everytime Kelsey got discouraged or frustrated he was there for her. He will be greatly missed.
