Richard Purvis Obituary

PURVIS, Richard Lee "Dick"
Age 74, of Horseheads, NY, passed away on Saturday, September 20, 2008, at Arnot Ogden Medical Center, Elmira, NY. He was born on May 21, 1934 in Blossburg, PA, son of the late Herman and Eva (Wales) Purvis. In addition to his parents; he was predeceased by his wife of 48 years, Marie Arlene (Sheets) Purvis; daughter, Pamela Marie Purvis; and son, Michael Richard Purvis. Dick is survived by his daughter and son in-law, Brenda L. and Eric C. Davies; grandson, Joseph E. Davies; and granddaughter, Renee' L. (Christopher) Cady, all of Horseheads, NY; brothers, Gerald (Virginia) Purvis, of Millport, NY, Edward (Mary) Purvis of Borrego Springs, CA, James (Dixie) Purvis, of San Jose, CA, Ronald (Kathy) Purvis, of Lake Stevens, WA; along with several nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to call at Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Ave., Elmira/ Southport, on Saturday, September 27, 2008, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. with Funeral and Committal Service Saturday at 3:00 p.m. Dick will be laid to rest in Forest Lawn Memorial Park, next to his beloved wife, Marie at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, those wishing are asked to please make memorials to The Children's Hospital Foundation, Philadelphia, PA, you may donate online at www.chop.edu. Once you are at the site, click on "Ways To Give". A "Candle of Remembrance" may be left for the family in Obituaries at www.olthof.com.
