Christmas has always been a favorite holiday for me. After Kathleen came into our life Christmas became the best holiday. I am not sure if we actually met the Dean family for the first time at Christmas, but in my memory it will always be at Grandma Dean's house on Maple Avenue. There was so much love in that house and I remember thinking how can Grandma manage all the shopping, to buy all these gifts for all of us!!! I realized that I was one of the us, and that Grandma Dean had accepted my brother and I as grandchildren, just as if we had been born into the family. This was the best gift she ever gave to me!! It is a privilage to be part of the Virginia Dean family! I love you all!

RE: Grandma Dean:

My favorite word to hear her say was Buttercup! I don't know how I
remember that, but it was no doubt in a rousting moment with the
family gathered around; eating fudge, playing cards, teasing, laughing
and more than likely cackling! Her love and joy are evident by the
family that she raised and the family that she (and they) adopted.
Kelli and I never felt like "step" grandkids, but always a part of the
family, always invited, always welcomed and always cared for. I'm
sure she had a lot running through her mind after 89 years...but what
will run through mine every time I think of Grandma Dean is her laugh,
her smile and her genuine kindness! While I'm sad to see her pass,
I'm thrilled that I was able to be a part of her life and have her be
a part mine! And even more, I am encouraged to know that she passed
on that smile and of course that laugh to such a loving family that
will continue to carry her kindness throughout their lives and
throughout the world!!

Love you guys,

Lucas

Mrs. Dean always reminded me as one of the Elegant Women that frequented Iszard's Tea Room. She was always the height of fashion. Only certain people will remember Iszard's Tea Room. I have very fond memories going there with my Mother-in-Law Alice S Rose. My thoughts are with you at this time.

Dearest Cousins,
Your mom , our Aunt Ginny ment the world to us Lag kids . We all have very fond memories of her and 'cuz' coming over and sharing a laugh.
After Uncle Tom and Meldo died Aunt Ginny and Anna would come over. Anna always telling a funny story or joke and Aunt Ginny on que stating "OH MY GOD" and laughing herself silly.
My fondest and most cherished memory of her was her ability to laugh.
We had the great fortune to take her to "The Downs" for some gambling recently, she won her six dollars and held on to it like she had won a million, We sure had fun that night!
I loved and still do love my Aunt Ginny. She was always a positive force in my life and feel blessed that she was a part of it.
I sure hope Aunt Ginny, Anna, Meldo and Cuz are up in Heaven having a great reunion party. And hopefully Meldo hasn't gone up to bed mad at the merry trio.
May She Rest In Peace.
Love,
Margie

Meggin:

So sorry to hear about Grandma Dean. I will always remember her fondly. She was the coolest Grandmother around, sleep overs at her home were always fun and shopping trips to the mall in her Cadillac were an adventure. You are truly blessed to have experienced such a Grandmother.

Just reflection of a busy young woman with a young family. I delivered the newspaper to the Deans and Colegroves on Gray and Guinnip, oh, so long ago. Your Mom was 16 years older than me, and I was quite young. My memory of those times are wonderful. I hope this note brings a smile at this time.

Tears will never stain the streets of that city, no wreaths of death on her mansion door. Teardrops aren't welcome beyond the gates of glory, for the heart will never break anymore.
