Canton, New York Dairy Farmer
"Dukie" of Caton, NY, passed away at his farm on September 20th, 2008. Duane was a United States Navy veteran, who served his country during the Korean War. For 35 years he and his wife of 52 years Marian Rose, whom predeceases him, operated a dairy farm. He is survived by his daughter, Keitha Kessler of Red Bank, NJ; two brothers, Doug Kessler of Pittsford, NY, and Lynn Kessler of Arvada, CO; three sisters, Rose Marie Potter of Hudson Falls, NY, Linda Allan of Syracuse, NY, Donna Pfendler of Port Leyden, NY. He also is survived by his special nephew, Eric Kessler and his family of Pittsford, NY. Duane also leaves behind many other wonderful family and friends along with his little buddy "Bruser". Family and friends are invited to gather at the Olthof Funeral Home, Inc., 1050 Pennsylvania Avenue, Elmira, NY, Thursday, September 25th, 2008, 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral services celebrating the life of Duane Edward Kessler will be held following the gathering hours at 1:00 p.m. Graveside committal prayers will be offered following the funeral celebration in the Elmwood Cemetery, Caton, NY, where Duane will be placed next to his dearly missed wife, Marian. Chaplin Mike Stanley will officiate. To honor Duane's personal sacrifice for our freedom, Full Military Honors will be accorded at his graveside. Those wishing may make memorials in Duane Edward Kessler's name to the charity or organization of your choice. A "Candle of Remembrance" may be left for the family in obituaries at www.olthof.com

My brother is a neighbor of Duane's and he truly enjoyed the time he spent together with him and I know he will be greatly missed.

I never had the pleasure of meeting him but I'm told he was a happy reminder of our Dad so I know he must have been one heck of a guy!

So sorry to hear about your dads passing Keitha...know that he is not suffering any pain and is at peace..believe it or not..time does heal..but he will always be missed..sounds like he lived a good full life even having his horses till recently..blessed be

Mr. Kessler will be missed dearly, he has touched lives he never has known about. I had the opportunity to take care of him at two different locations during his time of need. Thanks for everything I am dearly sorry for your loss
