Marie Stankiewicz Obituary

STANKIEWICZ, Marie J. (York)
Age 88, of 234 Chicory Ridge, Rochester, formerly of 8708 Main St., Campbell, died Wednesday, October 22, 2008, at Hildebrandt Hospice Center, Rochester. Marie was born February 19, 1920 at Groton, CT, the daughter of the late Arthur and Mary (Stiles) Hibbard. Marie was married to Chester Stankiewicz, who predeceased her in 1994. Marie graduated from Binghamton Central School in 1938. Marie's life was dedicated to operating her store, the Campbell Merchandise Mart, in Campbell, which she joyfully did for over 50 years. She enjoyed knitting of all kinds and made custom items for many people in the area. She is survived by two sons, Jan (Noreen) Kozak of Rochester, NY and Vincent (Nancy) Czapla of Liverpool, NY; grandsons, Jeffery (Shannon) Kozak of Rochester, NY and Jason (Jennifer) Kozak of Virginia; seven great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Eva J. Hibbard. Marie was predeceased by a brother, Arthur Hibbard. To celebrate Marie's life, her family is asking friends to call at the Phillips Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney St. in Corning on Saturday evening, Oct. 25th, from 4 to 7 p.m. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Hammondsport, NY, at the convenience of the family. Memorials may be made to Hildebrandt Hospice Care Center, 3111 Winton Road South, Rochester, NY 14623.
