QUAIL, Clarence F.
"Slim"
A longtime Elmira resident of the Northside passed away Thursday evening, October 23, 2008, at the Chemung County Nursing Facility where he had been receiving care at the age of 83. Born on February 8, 1925 in Elmira, Clarence was the son of Albert and Sussie Fields Quail. He retired from Kennedy Valve after many years of service as a truck driver. Well known by many by his band, "Slim Quail and the Green Mountain Boys." He also called square dances. Slim appreciated antiques and was a warm and caring family man who was so very proud of his son, Freddie Quail, and his auto racing. He is survived by his loving family, wife and companion of 48 years, Anna Ball Quail, Elmira; a daughter-in-law, Barbara Quail, Wellsburg; son-in-law, Daniel Myers, Odessa: a sister-in-law, Barbara Quail, Elmira; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Clarence was predeceased by his first wife, Beatrice Orme Guest; daughter, Thelma Myers; son, Frederick Quail; brother, Harold (Geraldine) Quail; sisters, Loretta (Allison) Schutt; Waneta (Anthony) Maslinski and her former husband, (William Drake). Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport on Sunday, October 26, 2008, between the hours of 7-9 p.m. Funeral Services will take place Monday morning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home followed by graveside services in Woodlawn Cemetery.

My condolences go out to the family. I remember Slim coming to my mom' s house Phyllis Kise an I as a kid calling him the Tudy Frurity man. He always had candy for me. He will be long remember in my mind as a kind an happy man as my mom an him would sit an talk an have coffee an talk about Fred's racing. You are in my prayers at this time. I will always remember are days at the old Chemung race track.Peace be with you at this time of grieving. Know that he is at Peace an in heaven with my parents looking over all of us. God Bless the whole family.
