Mary Allen Obituary

ALLEN, Mary A.
Age 84, of Lower Maple Avenue in Elmira, NY, died Sunday, November 4, 2007, at the Chemung County Health Care Facility in Elmira. Mary was born in Corning on January 4, 1923, to Harry and Edna (Rarrick) Furney. She married Myron Prosser in 1938 and was preceded in death by him in 1966. She married Elbert Allen in 1968. She worked for Corning Glass Works for 38 years, and retired in 1981 as a machine operator. She is survived by her husband, Elbert; three daughters, Bonnie (Ermen) Paulo of Horseheads, Lynda (Dick) Sleve of Knoxville, TN, and Tina (Gregory) Walrath-Potter of Corning; a son, Myron (Libby) Prosser of Corning; stepchildren, Bonnie (Jim) Kelly of Horseheads, Richard (Debbie) Allen of Pine City, Joyce Mecsuch of Millerton; a sister, Jolene (Hans William) Anderson of Corning. Mary is survived by 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, and five great-great-grandchildren. Mary was preceded in death by her brothers and sisters, Nemata (Bobby) Paciorek, Francis Furney, Joseph Furney, Paul Furney, and by her son, Terry Prosser. Calling hours will be Wednesday, November 7th at Phillips Funeral Home & Cremation Service, 17 W. Pulteney Street in Corning from 3 until 5 p.m., and again on Thursday from 12 Noon until 2:00 p.m. where funeral services will follow at 2:00 p.m. Burial will be in Hope Cemetery, Corning. Memorial donations may be made in her name to the American Heart Association, PO Box 3049, Syracuse, NY 13220-3049.
