Brenda Ruocco Obituary

Ruocco, Brenda J. ("B")
June 2, 1950 -
November 10, 2007
A tribute written by Brenda's family;
I have left my physical being to join my father William H. Taylor and my mother Bertha B. Taylor, for whom I did not have a chance to grieve for. I am survived by my loving husband, friend and companion Richard (Dick) Ruocco of 38 years; my daughter Kim Buono and my granddaughter Taylor Buono (whom will always be my "babies"), my sisters Sandra McCann, Judith Taylor (Richard Mickle), Paula Converse; my sister-in-law Carol English (Bernard) of FL and my loving nieces and nephews whom have made my journey easier to bear, Victoria Daniels (Kate Merrill), Valerie Daniels, Erik Daniels (Sally), Richard Daniels (Jessica), Jason Taylor (Christina), Richard Converse, Lisa Converse, James Decker; and my great nieces and nephews. I would like to say farewell to my second family, James Madell (Barb) who gave me more than you'll ever know and to everyone in the packaging industry, you know who you are. I wish to thank the nursing staff of the sixth floor at Strong Memorial Hospital for the great comfort and care that you had given me; and especially Dr. Bernstein and Dr. Sul who never gave up, may the "soul" of the floor live on. I would also like to thank Hospice, especially Debbie Jaynes who had given me more time to be with my loving family. I know that God has a plan for me, but I would like to borrow a quote from my favorite T-Shirt, "Cancer Sucks". Family and friends will be received at Caywood's Funeral Home & Gardens, 1126 Broadway, Southport, on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, between the hours of 1-3 and 5-7 p.m. A memorial service will follow at 7:15 p.m. Brenda's ashes will be placed in the Woodlawn National Cemetery Wall at her families convenience.

Your Baby

May 12, 2008

Yesterday was almost unbearable, thank God for Tata. You would have laughed...Tata with a broken arm made me breakfast in bed! The girl who still can't make her own breakfast. It was hard for me to fully understand the pain you felt every time you wanted to pick up the phone to share something with Nan. When something happens at work or with dad or Taylor, the first impulse I have is to pick up the phone and talk to you about it. I actually reached for my phone as I was driving Taylor back to school after she got her first cast. Can you believe she broke the same arm that you did? Thank goodness not as bad, but you know how she is. All day yesterday, Mother's day, I recounted all of our family luncheons to the Holiday Inn or Radison in Corning. How about the Mother's Day we spent at Aunt Sam's singing Karaoke? What I wouldn't give for another Mother's Day with you.....I miss you with all my heart, every day and forever.

Dearest Momma Bear,
With the great gift that cousin Jean Ann has given us, I am able to put my thoughts and feelings on your guest book. It has taken me until Dec. 27th to be able to write. It was your strength alone that has gotten me through this holiday season. I can almost hear you telling me, "don't think of me, think of Tata." That is so hard to do when this was our special time. The time that we shopped until we dropped and never thought we had enough until we couldn't fit the presents under the tree. Our office didn't look quite the same this year. Not quite the department store it usually was. Everyone has been so great and so supportive with calls and invitations trying to lessen the pain that we feel. It's funny you truly do not understand the strength of family until you've gone through the year we have. Our little family unit has opened up and been embraced by your sisters and all of the cousins, neices and nephews. Don't worry Aunt Sam, dad and I will be honest, mom would have been. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't think about you every minute..people keep telling me that it gets easier. I don't know how that is possible when you've lost your mom and your best friend. My heart feels like it is shattered in a thousand pieces. How does that get easier? Dad would always wonder how we could talk to each other in the morning before work, work together all day and talk to each other a few times a night. I'm sure you're up there looking down on us laughing because now dad and I talk in the morning before work and a few times a night, I think we're holding each other together. We all loved you more than you could possibly know. I pray that you are at peace with Nan and poppy.

Love Always,
Your Baby

I am so very sorry to hear of the loss of Brenda. I know it has been years since I have seen many of you, but our family is known for the bond that we all share. My father (John) is at a loss in trying to deal with losing one of his truly remarkable friends. I hope that she has found peace and is now in the loving arms of Great Aunt Bertha and my loving Grandmother. God Bless all of you and you are in our prayers.

December 4, 2007

To my dearest family, some things I'd like to say...
but first of all, to let you know, that I arrived okay.
I'm writing this from heaven. Here I dwell with God above.
Here, there's no more tears of sadness; here is just eternal love.

Please do not be unhappy just because I'm out of sight.
Remember that I'm with you every morning, noon and night.
That day I had to leave you when my life on earth was through,
God picked me up and hugged me and He said, "I welcome you."

It's good to have you back again; you were missed while you were gone.
As for your dearest family, they'll be here later on.
I need you here badly; you're part of my plan.
There's so much that we have to do, to help our mortal man."

God gave me a list of things, that he wished for me to do.
And foremost on the list, was to watch and care for you.
And when you lie in bed at night, the day's chores put to flight.
God and I are closest to you....in the middle of the night.

When you think of my life on earth, and all those loving years
because you are only human, they are bound to bring you tears.
But do not be afraid to cry; it does relieve the pain.
Remember there would be no flowers, unless there was some rain.

I wish that I could tell you all that God has planned.
But if I were to tell you, you wouldn't understand.
But one thing is for certain, though my life on earth is o'er.
I'm closer to you now, than I ever was before.

There are many rocky roads ahead of you and many hills to climb;
but together we can do it by taking one day at a time.
It was always my philosophy and I'd like it for you too...
that as you give unto the world, the world will give to you.

If you can help somebody who's in sorrow and pain,
then you can say to God at night......"My day was not in vain."
And now I am contented....that my life has been worthwhile,
knowing as I passed along the way, I made somebody smile.

So if you meet somebody who is sad and feeling low,
just lend a hand to pick him up, as on your way you go.
When you're walking down the street, and you've got me on your mind;
I'm walking in your footsteps only half a step behind.

And when it's time for you to go.... from that body to be free,
remember you're not going.....you're coming here to me.

Kim, friends & family of Brenda's. I am deeply saddened to hear about her passing. I was privileged to get to know her just over a year ago when opening my new jewelry store. She was amazing right from the start. We connected instantly and became friends. I even took special time out to go meet her at the Las Vegas show in June where I was greeted with a great big hug. I am so glad I met her face to face. We shared lots of laughs and stories having been in the business about the same amount of years. My bag design reminds me of her everyday as she helped me with creating it. She was so knowledgable and talented. What a joy she was. I am thankful I had the opportunity to meet her, like someone before me stated, she truly was an angel and someday we shall meet again! Please know thoughts and prayers are with you at this time. She is and will be missed, always, Jeannie

I just learned of Brenda's passing yesterday from my former boss at J Roberts in Ruidoso. NM. My heart is heavy with sadness for you, Brenda's family. I only knew her via telephone and work but she was a dear sweet person and friend. She cared deeply about her customers and took such good care of us. When I lost my husband 3 1/2 yrs ago then came back to work, Brenda was so thoughtful and compasionate. We talked alot about this kind of thing. My heart is sad to know she has suffered and of your loss but I know she is walking with God, she is where she is supposed to be and she will always live in our thoughts and memories. All my love to you.

spoke about was you, your mom and Dick.
Many years ago, my company was raffling off a stuffed animal at a trade show and Brenda said she had to have it for "Her Baby Taylor".
Miraculously, 5 minutes later she won the prize. Brenda was a warm, kind loving person and we will all miss her. I am glad to have had the opportunity of knowing Brenda for many years and proud to have been her friend.
