Dortha Johnston Obituary

JOHNSTON, Dortha A.
Age 87, of Whitneyville Road, Wellsboro, PA, died November 12, 2007 at her home. She was the wife of the late Howard L. (Dutch) Johnston whom she married December 30, 1939. Dortha was born February 1, 1920 in Wellsboro, PA, the daughter of the late Ray and Bernice Kriner Apgar. She was a graduate of Wellsboro High School "1938", and a retired LPN at Soldiers and Sailors Memorial Hospital, Wellsboro, PA. Dortha was a member of the Whitneyville United Methodist Church, the National Society of the Daughters of American Revolution, and the Tioga County Historical Society. Surviving are daughters and sons-in-law, Linda (David) Jones, Cherry Flats, PA, Sandra Starkweather, Whitneyville, PA, and Dianna (George) Duchemin, Gillette, PA; sons and daughters-in-law, John (Leslie) Johnston, Texas, and Michael (Julie) Johnston, Arnot, PA; 16 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, five great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, William Apgar; and a son, Howard L. "Butch" Johnston. There will be a private family service with Pastor Robin Baer officiating. Burial in Tioga County Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent in her memory to a charity of one's choice. Arrangements by Tussey-Mosher Funeral Home, 139 Main Street, Wellsboro, PA.
