Myrtle McCann Obituary

McCANN, Myrtle West
Age 91, passed on November 20th, 2007 at Arnot Odgen Medical Center. Myrtle, formerly of E. Miller St. in Elmira, was a resident of the Elcor Health Services for the past three years where she made many new friends. She was predeceased by her husband of over 50 years, John R. McCann in 1995. Myrtle was also predeceased by five brothers and one sister. She is survived by daughter, Joan E. Snowden of Elmira; daughter and son-in-law, Carol A. and William Golden of Horseheads; son, Kevin R. McCann of Horseheads; sisters, Virginia Williams Ryan of Binghamton and Rose West Houper of Elmira; grandchildren, Robert M. (Shari) Snowden and Joseph P. (Victoria) Snowden and Connor W. Golden; great-grandsons, Thomas Joseph and Robert Joseph Snowden; several nieces, nephews and cousins. Myrtle was a devoted mother and grandmother who gave unselfishly to her family. Her entire life was devoted to helping others in times of need. As a child she was an accomplished acrobat, a leader and loved participating in sporting activities. Myrtle leaves behind a legacy of caring and compassion for family that will always be remembered and carried on by her children. She loved her brothers and sisters immensely and shared many memories with her two remaining sisters. Friends are invited to McInerny Funeral Home, corner of W. Water and Walnut Streets on Friday, November 23, 2007, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. A funeral service will follow at 4:15 p.m. Committal prayers and interment will be held at St. Peter & Paul's Cemetery on Saturday, November 24, 2007, at 10:00 a.m. Donations in Myrtle's memory may be directed to Arnot Ogden Medical Center Auxiliary, "Tree of Lights", 600 Roe Ave., Elmira, NY 14905.

The family would like to acknowledge the staff at both Arnot Ogden Medical Center and Elcor Health Services for their unwavering support and care.
