Neil Barnes Obituary

BARNES, NEIL P.
Age 69, of Elmira, NY, died Friday, November 23, 2007, at his home in Myrtle Beach, SC, surrounded by his loving family, after an extended battle with cancer. Neil was the son of Henry A. and Dorthea Brown Barnes of Canton, PA. He was predeceased by his brothers, Richard, Douglas and Stuart of Canton, PA; and his precious granddaughter, Marissa Ann Barnes, formerly of Fort Leonard Wood, MO. Neil was a loving husband, father and grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Patricia Barnes; son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Susan Barnes of Wahiawa, HI; daughter and son-in-law, Kelly and Rick Ryan of Myrtle Beach, SC; his sister, Annalee Owen of Canton, PA; and three brothers, Jack Barnes of Elliston, VA, and John and Clark Barnes of Elmira, NY; three grandchildren, Bryan Barnes and his wife, Nicole of Lawton, OK, Carrie Gokey and husband, Brian of Clayton, NY, and Blake Ryan of Myrtle Beach, SC; and three great-grandchildren, Bailie and Chloe Gokey of Clayton, NY, and Gabriel Barnes of Lawton, OK; several nieces, nephews and many dear friends. Friends are invited to his Memorial Service, honoring his life, at New Life Church, Canton, PA, on Sunday, December 2, 2007, at 6:00 p.m. Neil will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery, Elmira, NY, Saturday, December 1, 2007, where Full Military Honors will be accorded.

I was so sorry to hear of Neil's Passing. I remember, years ago, when we lived on South Ave., Neil did some "barter" work for us. We gave him a "staircase" and he, in return, "added" an extra bedroom in our house (on South Ave.) - for my son, Neil. He did a professional job.

We prayed for Neil for quite a while - so good to know that he has, in fact, been healed and that we will see him again someday soon!! I pray God gives you peace and comfort.
