Ralph Loudermilk Obituary

Ralph Halbert Loudermilk, 79, of 970 Ridge Road, Mocksville, died Monday, March 2, 2009, at his residence. He was born Oct. 14, 1929, in Alexander County, and was the son of the late Daniel A. and Alice Leola Neagle Loudermilk. He was a U.S. Army veteran and worked with Taylorsville Auto Parts after his military service. He retired from Alexvale Furniture Company in Taylorsville in 1996. Ralph loved his 1930 Model A Ford and driving along the Blue Ridge Parkway and also enjoyed bluegrass music. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Bill Fox, and by four sisters, Lois Harrington, Lottie Goforth, Edna Chapman, and Thomasene "Tommy" Goforth. Ralph is survived by two daughters, Kathy Barr (Billy), of Taylorsville, and Lorie Hedrick (Darren), of Claremont; a son, Jeff Loudermilk, of Taylorsville; his fiancee, special friend and caregiver, Joann Williams, of the home; a sister, Ozabell McCurdy; two brothers, Talmadge Loudermilk (Ann) and Dee Loudermilk (Mae), all of Taylorsville; five grandchildren; six stepgrandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and six stepgreat-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 5, in the Westmoreland Chapel of Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Danny Loudermilk officiating. Burial will follow at Society Baptist Church Cemetery. Condolences may be sent to the family online at www.mem.com. Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home is serving the Loudermilk family.
