Harry Frank Obituary

Frank, Harry, beloved husband of Jan Fleishman Frank and the late Florence Frank; cherished father of Michael, Harvey and Jonny; and daughters-in-law, Julie, Wendy, Terry and stepson, Todd Fleischman; adored grandfather of Louis, Daniel, Rose, Cary, Rachel, "Frankie" and Jacob; loving brother of Mitch and sisters-in-law, Norma Frank and Joan Kirshner, treasured aunts, Frances Berg and Adelle Zales, entered into rest February 25, 2008. A 30 year resident of Tamarac, FL and part-time of N. Hutchinson Island, FL formerly of the Bronx and Valley Stream, NY, member of Musicians Union Local 802 since 1937 and performed at all the "casinos" and hotels in the Catskill Mountains with his band known as the "Musical Aces" and also known as "Marty Ames Band". His trumpet player was his best friend, Irving Marder, now of California. Harry Frank was a former veteran who served in the Army in India as an anti-aircraft gunner and also in special services with Melvyn Douglas as a musician playing saxophone and clarinet and vocalist entertainer. After the war he was the saxophone and clarinet player with the Kirby Stone Band. Branching out on his own, he played thousands of weddings and Bar Mitzvah parties in most of the catering halls of the Bronx, Queens & Long Island, NY, including Astorian Manor and Temple Zion and more. His vast audiences enjoyed his entertaining personality and his performances of the spectacular sound and music of the Big Band era. Moving to Florida, Harry continued to be one of the most sought after entertainers in South Florida. His specialty was wide spread in delighting audiences with his singing, story telling and best of all, widely acclaimed clarinet and his Spectacular Klezmer show. Harry was humble and known for his charismatic personality. He was a member of the Knights of Pythias Renaissance Lodge, Vice President and Secretary of the Footlighters Club of Florida and served on the Board of the Footlighters Foundation. Harry Frank touched thousands of people. He lived life to the fullest and left a wonderful legacy of Love, Family, Friends and his Music. His motto . . . "Keep smiling". It was with heartfelt sorrow that we learned of Harry's passing. Fortunately you sent us an E Mail and we were able to attend his funeral services. We had great pleasure in seeing him at the holiday gataways that you planned and at the shows you put on at Phase 2.
We will always remmber him.
