George Nadig Obituary

George Avison Nadig, 71, of Norwalk, passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by his family, on Monday, July 20, 2009.

George was the beloved husband of Mary Beth Danberg Nadig, and loving father to his son, Richard Avison Nadig of Errol, New Hampshire, and his daughter, Lori Jeanne Nadig-Bach and son-in-law, John W. Bach, Jr. of Trumbull, CT. He was born In Keene, New Hampshire on May 26, 1938, son of the late Mildred Avison and Henry Davis Nadig, Sr. He is also survived by his brothers, Henry Davis Nadig, Jr. of New Lebanon, N.Y. and David B. Nadig, and sister-in- law Irene Mary Nadig ,of Lake Monticello, Virginia.

He will be lovingly remembered and missed by his grandson, Brian Joseph Bach and his granddaughter, Lindsey Marie Nadig.

George spent his childhood in Darien and Rowayton, and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1956. He attended Pace College and University of Bridgeport, as well as the Finance and Accounting School of the US Army in Indianapolis, Indiana, following which he served in the Finance Division of the Army in France for two years.

Following his service in the Army in 1960 he married Mary Danberg, his High School sweetheart. They have been residents of West Norwalk for 49 years. His career was in the field of finance, and he retired from Century Communications in 1999. For 25 years George was a drummer with three good friends in the Octaves Dance Band and played many gigs in the Norwalk area. In 1989, he and his son, Rick, created a beautiful land development project in Errol, New Hampshire, known as Hampshire Woods, for which he was very proud.

George will be missed by his many friends, and remembered for his humor, compassion and willingness to help others. He loved the game of tennis, and could be found on a tennis court many hours during the week. George was also a Reiki Master, and a special part of his life was his spirituality and his devotion to helping people through Reiki healing. Many thanks to the wonderful angels at Mid-Fairfield County Wilton Hospice, to Dr. Richard Frank and everyone at the Whittingham Cancer Center.

To Mary and family -
The memories of George and the times that you all shared will be cherished forever by my my dad. I continue to be so very grateful for the help and assistance that you provided to my parents when we could not reach them by phone or feared there was some type of emergency. George was always there to offer a "helping hand". He was a wonderfully generous man. We send our deepest sympathy in your loss and wish you peace and well being as you see yourself through this difficult time.
