George William Cecil

CECIL, George William, 89, of Maysville, W.Va., passed away at Grant Memorial Hospital in Petersburg, W.Va., on August 12, 2008. He was born January 2, 1919, in Ridge Church, Va., the son of Thomas Cecil and Rosa Lee Chenault Cecil, both deceased. After attending high school in Henrico County, Va., he attended Virginia Mechanics Institute. He was a retired master electrician from VEPCO, and also once worked as a cook at a CCC Camp on the Blue Ridge Parkway. He is survived by daughters, Linda Alt of Chesterfield, Va., Tamara Van Meter of Richmond, Va., and Connie Kinnin of Roanoke Rapids, N.C.; sons, George Jr. and Bryan Cecil, both of Chesterfield, Va.; 12 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sisters, Mary Powell, Martha Cecil, Cora Lee Cecil, Grace Layfield, Elizabeth Cecil, Thelma Nelms, and Norma Cecil; his brothers, Charles, Frank, and Maynard Cecil; and two great-grandchildren. A graveside service will be held 3 p.m. Friday, August 15, 2008 at Bethia United Methodist Church Cemetery in Chesterfield, Va.
