Doie Benjamin Smith

SMITH, Doie Benjamin, 86, of Quinton, passed away Saturday, August 15, 2008. He proudly served in the U.S. Marines from 1941 to 1945, during which time he saw action in the Pacific Theatre. Doie served in campaigns that included Tarawa, Saipan and Tinian. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Diedre Shott. Doie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret; one daughter, Cheryl and her husband, Donald; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 20, at Vincent Funeral Home, 9923 Pocahontas Trail, Providence Forge, Va. His remains will be interred at Quantico Cemetery at a later date. Box 177, Providence Forge, Va. 23140.
