Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Aug. 19, 2008.
LEVITSKY, Mary Louise Snoddy, 83, passed away August 16, 2008, with her daughter by her side, after battling lung cancer. Mary was born September 20, 1924 to Asa "Perk" and Alice Snoddy in Buckingham County, Virginia. Her parents and three siblings Jackie, Emily and Melvin all preceded her in death. Mary enjoyed traveling, reading, plants and learning all she could. Most importantly she loved her "grandbabies." She could be found at many of their school and extracurricular activities. Mary loved each one and talked about her grandchildren and great-grandchildren whenever given the opportunity. Leaving to cherish their memories together are her son, Michael (Janet) Levitsky of Newark, Delaware; daughter, Patti (Ron) Nicholas of West Point; grandchildren, Jennifer (Josh) Fanelli of Newark, Delaware, Jessica (Marco) Smith of Williamsburg, Erin Levitsky of Wilmington, Delaware, Meagan (Gavin) Vickery of West Point, Austin Nicholas of Stafford; great-grandchildren Jackson and Lila Fanelli and Nora Vickery. Many thanks to the nurses and staff at West Point Riverside Convalescent Center and Sentara Hospice - Williamsburg. A homegoing celebration will be held at Smith Memorial Baptist Church in Williamsburg, Va. on Saturday, August 23, 2008. Family will greet friends at 3:15 p.m. with the celebration beginning at 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers please make contributions in Mary's memory to Living Proof Baptist Church Building Fund, 309 Waltz Farm Drive, Williamsburg, Va. 23185. Patti, You and your family are in our prayers. I'm not sure you remember me, but we were friends way back when. Your mother was a wonderful friend to my mom who passed away 7/1/08. May God carry you in His arms during this sad time.
