FAULKNER, Mary Hampton Bartenstein, died Wednesday, August 27, 2008, at Mary Washington Hospital. The daughter of Frederick Bartenstein and Anna Robertson Curtis Bartenstein, she was born December 18, 1919 on Wildcat Mountain in Fauquier County, Va. She was the widow of the Rev. Thomas G. Faulkner Jr., to whom she was married for over 53 years. Mrs. Faulkner devoted her life in service to others. She was the daughter of Fred and Anna C. Bartenstein of Warrenton, Va. Mrs. Faulkner was predeceased by her husband, Rev. Thomas G. Faulkner Jr.; a brother, Robert M. Bartenstein; and a grandson, Michael F. Ridgeway. She is survived by three children and their spouses, Drs. Thomas G. and Rebecca C. Faulkner of Taylors, S.C., John H. and Belinda G. Faulkner of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Ann F. and Michael F. Ridgeway; seven grandchildren, Cara F. and Brandon Ward, and Kathryn G. Faulkner of Wilmington, N.C., Sarah H. Ridgeway and Katherine H. Ridgeway of Locustdale, Va., Andrew T. Faulkner, Joshua D. Faulkner and Charles J. Faulkner of Taylors, S.C.; and one great-granddaughter, Ashleigh R. Faulkner. She is also survived by her brothers, Fred Bartenstein Jr. of Mendham, N.J. and John H. Bartenstein of Warrenton, Va. The memorial service will be held Saturday at 2 p.m. at St. George's Episcopal Church, with the Rev. James C. Dannals and the Rev. Gay M. Rahn officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials take the form of contributions to the Matthew 25 Fund at St. George's Episcopal Church, 905 Princess Anne St., Fredericksburg, Va. 22401. The purpose of the fund is to further the outreach and interfaith ministries of the greater Fredericksburg community.
