Eva Walker Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Aug. 29, 2008.
WALKER, Eva Doris Day, 73, of Richmond, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, August 27, 2008 at her home. She was born in Roxboro, N.C., to the late Ollie Day and Herbert Day, and was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Day. She was the beloved bride of Walter "Mac" Walker and together they lovingly raised their children, Kenneth Walker and Kimberly Walker Lynch. She loved her children's spouses as if they were her own, Claudia Walker and Chris Lynch. MacKenzie "Mack" Walker, her grandson, was her pride and joy. She will be missed by her sisters and their husbands, Elizabeth and Norman Hayes and Frances and Robert Trickey; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was a longtime member of Westhampton United Methodist Church. The simplest things in life made Eva happiest. She loved spending time with her family and delighted in their accomplishments. Always thrifty and organized, she loved a bargain and often bought gifts for others a year or more in advance. She loved family vacations at the beach, sitting on the sun porch with Mac, watching Lifetime movies and reading Danielle Steele. In high school, Eva was voted most popular, best all around and Queen of Hearts. Some things never changed. The family will receive friends Friday, August 29, 2008, 6 to 8 p.m., at Bliley's-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road. A graveside service will be held Saturday, August 30, 1 p.m., at Stories Creek Baptist Church in Roxboro, N.C. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Westhampton United Methodist Church Capital Fund, 6100 Patterson Ave., Richmond, Va. 23226.
