James O'Brien Obituary

O'BRIEN, James W. "Gillie," age 90, of Chesterfield, passed away September 3, 2008. He is survived by his wife and the love of his life for 70 years, Lillie Mae; three loving daughters, Patricia Crown, Barbara Jean Lowry and Judy Ann Bowles; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren; and his brother, Charlie O'Brien. A World War II veteran, he served 38 years with the Richmond Fire Department. His remains rest at Bliley's-Chippenham, where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, and where funeral services will be held 12 noon Friday. Interment Hopewell United Methodist Church Cemetery.

Please accept our deepest sympathies in the lost of our Firefighter Brother Gillie. Our hearts are heavy too.

Gillie was a great Father and Firefighter. He always loved his wife and his daughters.

The members of the Richmond Retired Firefighters Association will truly miss our friend who has gone ahead of us and we greet all of one day.

To The O'Brien Family,
I am very sorry for your loss. Gillie was a great guy. He always looked after all of us kids on Oregon Hill when he was with Company 6. We all hated to see him go. We really missed him and the others when they left.
