Paul Williams Obituary

WILLIAMS, Paul M., 84, of Richmond, Va., formerly of Hazleton, Pa., passed away Wednesday, September 3, 2008 at Retreat Hospital Hospice. He was the son of the late Ernest and Alberta Williams. He was an employee of Bell Atlantic Company and was a member of Knights of Columbus Council #395 of which he was a former Grand Knight and Faithful Navigator. Mr. Williams served his country proudly in the U.S. Army during WWII as a member of the 148th Combat Engineer Battalion in Europe, including the Battle of the Bulge. He sang in the Tobaccoland Chorus and was a charter member of Lakeside Volunteer Rescue Squad. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Anna May Williams; two children, Paul J. Williams of Richmond, Va., and Ann Williams Murray and her husband, William, of Charlottesville, Va.; four grandchildren, Melanie Charlton and her husband, David, of Fincastle, Va., Elizabeth Barton of Roanoke, Va., Chris and Mary Murray of Charlottesville, Va.; and lots of loving nieces and nephews. A memorial mass will be held 2 p.m Monday at St. Mary's Catholic Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund, 9505 Gayton Road, Richmond, Va. 23229 or to Hospice of Virginia, 7231 Forest Ave., Suite 100, Richmond, Va. 23226.

Dear Anna May:
Barbara and I send our love and prayers as we all experience the loss of Paul. As you know Paul was truly the brother that I never had. He was a significant part of my entire life. Paul will live on in our hearts. I treasurer you as my sister and as a great loving friend.
