C. Wallace "Wally" Hudson Jr.

C. Hudson Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Sep. 6 to Sep. 7, 2008.
HUDSON, C. Wallace "Wally" Jr., a local commercial and industrial contractor, went to be with the Lord on Friday, September 5, 2008. Mr. Hudson, owner of Hudson Sheet Metal Company, opened his business in 1967. He was born and raised in Richmond, graduated from Thomas Jefferson and married his high school sweetheart, Beverly Wright Hudson, in 1957. He is survived by his wife, Beverly; his mother, Helen Hudson; his brother, Douglas Hudson; four children, Debra Crafa and husband, Lou, Chip Hudson and wife, Mary, Courtney Hitchcock and husband, Wes, and Donna Hudson Douglas; five grandchildren, Erin Crafa, Sara and Philip Hudson, Bryce Hitchcock and Landon Douglas. Mr. Hudson was highly regarded and well loved in the business community. A modest and unassuming leader, he had a reputation for being fair, honest and generous. He believed that honesty and integrity were two of the most important character traits a person could have. Mr. Hudson loved to help those who were less fortunate. He was a hard worker in business and at home and loved building things with his own hands. Above all, he was a great outdoorsman and loved traveling to South Africa and Alaska where he hunted and took beautiful photographs. He loved the game of golf and was a member of both Hermitage Country Club and Kinloch Golf Club. Mr. Hudson was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) in December of 2006. He faced his disease with courage and dignity. He died peacefully in the presence of his wife, children, dogs and dear family friend, Dr. Anthony "Tony" Marmarou. Dr. Marmarou stayed at his bedside in his final days and has been a blessing to the family. The family will receive friends Sunday, September 7, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the West Chapel of Bennett Funeral Home, 11020 W. Broad Street. A memorial service will be conducted Monday, September 8, 11 a.m., at Mount Vernon Baptist Church. Interment private. In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to ALS TDI at https://www.als.net/join/ donatenow.asp or Mount Vernon Baptist Church Building Fund.

Dear Hudson Family, we are so sorry for the loss of your loved one. It was always so special to me, to have a chance to see him at the end of the driveway and spend a few minutes just chatting. He always was laughing and smiling. I could tell he was a great man. When my dad died, He escorted my mom out to the grave site. I could tell once more how incredible he was. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. We are here for you, anytime. Tracy, Phyllis and Logan Jowers
