DUNCAN, Edgar, 93, of Richmond, entered into eternal rest in the early hours of Tuesday, September 9, 2008. He was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Dorothy B. Duncan. A native of Halifax, Va., he moved to Richmond in the late 1930s to marry and start his family. He served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He retired from Union Camp Paper Corporation after working there for more than 30 years. He was a longtime member of The Mount Carmel Baptist Church where he sang in the choir for more than 50 years. He is survived by one son, Edgar J. Duncan (Barbara); four daughters, Gloria D. Catlett (James G.), Mary S. Easter, Doris D. Ross (William) of Gaithersburg, Md., and Margaret L. Duncan; three grandchildren, Torsarn D. Roebuck of Charlotte, N.C., Kelly E. Madison of Glen Allen, Va., and Shanelle N. Duncan of Richmond, Va.; two great-grandsons, Aaron J. Roebuck of Charlotte, N.C. and Nicholas I. Madison of Glen Allen, Va.; one sister-in-law, Virginia E. Cooper of Columbus, Ohio; and a host of other family members and friends. His remains rest at the W.S. Watkins & Son Funeral Home, 2700 North Ave., Richmond, Va. 23222, where family will receive friends on Sunday, September 14, from 5 to 6 p.m. Funeral services will be held at The Mount Carmel Baptist Church, 3200 East Broad Street, Richmond, Va., on Monday, September 15, at 11 a.m. Dr. Stephen A.G. Howard officiating. Interment Forest Lawn Cemetery.
