Martha Wilson-Thompson Obituary

WILSON-THOMPSON, Martha, daughter of the late Jasper Wilson Sr. and Clara Christina Wilson, was born September 16, 1933. She departed this life September 22, 2008. Martha was raised in Richmond, Va. She studied early childhood education at Virginia Union University. She was a devoted church member and one of the founders of St. Elizabeth Women's Group. She dedicated her life to her husband, her four children and the upbringing of her niece, Clyde Wynn Freeman. She is survived by her husband, Archie Luther Thompson Sr.; four children, Archie L. Thompson Jr. (Sarah), Sabrina Thompson, Peter Thompson (Sheila), Venus Thompson-Glover (Stanley Jr.). Others to cherish her memory include one sister, Gertrude Hewlett; two brothers, Richard Brown and Jasper Wilson Jr.; three sisters-in-law, Mary Brown, Irene Wilson and Edna Saunders; 10 grandchildren, two grandsons-in-law, eight great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and other loving relatives and friends, including a devoted friend of the family, Gladys Manuel. She was a beautiful, loving wife and mother, whose caring and affectionate nature instilled in us the true meaning of family unity. Her service will be held at the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 2712 2nd Ave., Richmond, Va., at 11 a.m. Saturday, September 28.
