Billy Taylor Obituary

TAYLOR, Billy Charles Sr., 72, of Hopewell, passed away on Saturday, October 4, 2008. He was born March 12, 1936 in Big Stone Gap, Va. to his parents, Cova Taylor and Martha Davis Taylor-Callahan. He graduated from the Virginia School for the Deaf and the Blind in Staunton in 1955. He was a member of International Telecommunications Union (ITU) for 25 years as a linotypist including the stints with The Washington Post (14 years), Richmond Times-Dispatch, and The Hopewell News. He retired from the United States Postal Service after 17 years of service. He was a devoted member of the Richmond Club of the Deaf, Greater Richmond Chapter of Virginia of the Deaf, Deaf Senior Citizens of Richmond, and the Virginia School for the Deaf Alumni Association. He also served on the Board of GRCVAD, VAD, DSCR and VSDAA for many years. He is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Deanna Duncan Taylor; six children, Karen Taylor, Billy Taylor Jr., Lily Mountjoy, Hedy Garner-Taylor, Ricky Taylor, Gary Taylor; ten grandchildren; sister, Mary Lou Fulcher and her husband, Marvin; two nephews; and a large extended family from the Virginia School for the Deaf in Staunton. The family will receive friends at the Nelsen Funeral Home, 214 North 6th Ave., Hopewell, Va., from 5 to 7 p.m., with a service to be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, October 7, 2008. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the VSDAA, c/o Mike Marzolf, 813 Parkview Ave., Staunton, Va. 24401.

Deanna ,, I know how you feel that way loss your husband like I do but it is important to remeber that Billy had so much life with the family as for being Husband,Father and he did all what he was done that was so much blessed..Now he is in peace and is enough the mess world we now have and he is now in peace...
