BAKER, Cynthia Ewell, age 74, entered eternal rest on October 10, 2008. She was born on November 19, 1933 in New Rochelle, New York, to Mary Turner Ayers and the late Douglas Ewell. She is survived by her mother, Mary Turner Ayers. She was preceded in death by her father, Douglas Ewell; and stepfather, John R. Ayers; and devoted aunt, Lucy T. Baugh. Leaving those devoted to cherish her memory are Lateefah Madyun (Nadine), Willie Richards (Sonny), David Ayers, Calvin Hopkins, Robbin and Sylvester Bryce, Winnie Smith, and Alberta Mayo. She attended Goochland and New York public schools. She obtained her undergraduate degree from Talladega College, Talladega, Alabama, and later earned her master's in Social Work. She was employed until her retirement with the County of Los Angeles, Department of Health Services as District Director for the Southwest Health Center. A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008 at the Robert Mealy Funeral Home, 2530 Dogtown Rd., Goochland, Va. 23063, with Pastor Dr. Donald Trent officiating.
