George Clifford Winfield

WINFIELD, George Clifford, 87, of Chester, died Thursday, October 9, 2008 at CJW-Chippenham Hospital, after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Mr. Winfield was born in Petersburg, Va., on April 15, 1921 and was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George C. Winfield Sr. Mr. Winfield served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He resided in Miami, Fla., from 1955 until returning to Virginia in 1990. He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Dorothy Jinkins Winfield; his brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Harold and Marlene Jinkins of Chester, Va.; sister-in-law, Evelyn Louise Jinkins of Montpelier, Va.; and eight nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at the Chesterfield Chapel of J.T. Morriss & Son Funeral Home & Cremation Service with Dr. Emmett Dunnevant officiating. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, October 13, 2008 at the funeral home. Burial will be at Sunset Memorial Park.
