BLALOCK, Jane Cecchini Watson, 81, of Mechanicsville, passed away October 11, 2008. Jane is survived by her husband, Burnal A. Blalock Jr. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Cecchini. She is survived by her three children, Daniel W. Watson Jr. (Vicki), Michael A. Watson and Teresa Watson (Ricky); three grandchildren, Bernie Watson (Kerri), Leslie Chlebowski (Bill), Katie Watson; and three great-grandchildren, Cole Chlebowski, Justin Watson and Taylor Watson; two sisters, Virginia Simms (Marvin) and Lee Smith. Jane was retired from the Virginia Retirement System and was a faithful and dedicated member of Broadus Memorial Baptist Church. Family will receive friends Friday, October 17, from 10 to 11:30 a.m., with services immediately following at Broadus Memorial Baptist Church, 5351 Pole Green Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. Donations can be made in lieu of flowers to the American Lung Association, 9221 Forest Hill Ave., Richmond, Va. 23235.

Jane Blalock, wife of my mother's first cousin Burnal, was [along with her husband and Allie Blalock a dear friend to and of hers], was MY FAVORITE RELATIVE. SHE SAVED MY LIFE WHEN MY MOTHER PASSED AWAY, and she and Burnal are so very dear people. I didn't see enough of her,and the longer I waited between calls only made it harder to make them out of guIlt, but FOUR HOURS HAS NEVER PASSED THAT I DID NOT THINK OF THIS FINE LADY --how she enriched everyone's life. Jane was a sweet woman that I met "at the river", while visiting my parents. I have many great memories of my Virginia vacations and I feel blessed that she is part of them. I am so very sorry for your loss. I wish I could have come down with my dad (Ron) & brother (Joe) and been there for her service.

I REMEMBER MEETING JANE WHEN I CAME TO WORK FOR VRS AND WORKED WITH HER FOR MANY YEARS. SHE WAS ONE OF A KIND, ALWAYS HAVING KIND WORDS TO SAY. SHE WILL TRULY BE MISSED. MAY THE LORD BE WITH YOU AT THIS TIME.

To her family. She will truly be missed. I grew up in the youth group at Broadus. She was such a lovely lady and so very kind. I will miss her.

Dear Family,
I know two people who will be rejoicing to see your Mom in Heaven. That would be my parents, Minnie and Eugene Pitts. We were neighbors when I was a baby and moved when I was five years old. I remember playing outside with Michael. When I think about living in Highland Park I always remember Ms. Jane and her family. Once I broke my arm and she held my arm and wiped my tears all the way to the hospital. My parents cared so much about her and her family. May God bring...
