John Ziegler Obituary

ZIEGLER, John Malcolm, 82, went to be with his maker on October 13, 2008. He was born in College Park, Ga., the seventh son of Theodore Ziegler and Elizabeth Zimmerman Ziegler. He is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Betty Dunn Ziegler; three children, Carl and wife, Leslie, of Durham, N.C., Daniel of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Gloria of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; and three grandchildren, Scott, Brian and Lindsey of Raleigh, N.C. John served his country in the Navy during WWII, graduated from Georgia Tech with a degree in Mechanical Engineering, and came to Richmond to work for the Trane Company. In 1979, he became a partner in the firm of Energy Consultants, Inc. John was a charter member of Reveille United Methodist Church, serving on many boards and committees. He has continued his interest in Young Life and Prison Fellowship. His deep faith has been lived out within his church, family and community. He was active in the Rotary Club, Georgia Tech Alumni Club, enjoyed travel, golf, hiking, skiing and many other activities with his family. He will be remembered for his dedication to his Lord and his love for family and friends. His great sense of humor was well-known by everyone who knew him. Family visitation will be held on October 16, 2008 from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd. A private graveside service will be held on Friday, October 17, with a memorial service to follow at Reveille United Methodist Church at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Young Life Richmond West End, P.O. Box 70807, Richmond, Va. 23255, and Prison Fellowship, P.O. Box 1550, Merrifield, Va. 22116.
