Alan Ziegler Obituary

Published by Legacy on Nov. 7, 2025.
November 4, 2025 at the age of 87.
Predeceased by his parents and brother. Survived by his wife, Emily Neece; children, A. Read (Cynthia) Ziegler, Jr., Barclay (Lauri) Branch, Kathryn Ziegler, Joanna (John) Clark, Andrew (Heather) Stephen, Geoffrey (Megan) Ziegler, Parker (Celeste) Branch, Bradford (Lindsey) Ziegler; 11 cherished grandchildren; sister, Danna (Lee) Jackson; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Alan was a true legend in his beloved Rochester's civic, business, and community circles - with a rainbow arc of lifelong service, leadership, interests, and relationships as colorful and diverse as his signature collection of bow ties. His work & recognized dedication spanned Episcopal Senior Living Communities; Society of Financial Service Professionals; Rochester Area Business Ethics Foundation; Keuka College Board of Trustees; Brighton High School Hall of Fame; GEVA, Highland Hospital, Genesee Valley Club, YWCA, Family Service of Rochester, Roger's House, Troop 31 B.S.A., and countless other contributions public and private. A lifelong athlete and nationally ranked squash player, a foodie and gourmand nonpareil, and a devoted member of numerous social and faith institutions – he left an indelible impact on countless lives across generations with his indefatigable appetite for human relationships. He rarely forgot a name, and never missed an opportunity to connect, ask, learn, and remember. His deepest joy by far surrounded his vast blended family, and he spent the best decades of his life sharing his passions and adventures with the love of his life: wife and partner Emily. His lightning wit, razor intellect, and endless curiosity may never quite be matched, and will never be replaced.
God bless you, may heaven have raspberry jelly doughnuts, and we love you forever Dad / Alan / Grand-dog / Pop!
