HARRIER, Dwight Charles, 91, passed away Tuesday, October 14, 2008. Born on June 4, 1917 in Allentown, Pa., he is survived by Jean, his loving wife of 62 years; four children, Gregory; Linda Diamond and husband, Ron; Jayne Sharpe and husband, Ronnie; and Douglas and wife, Susan; seven grandsons and one granddaughter. Honorably discharged from the United States Navy in 1946, Dwight graduated from Indiana Technical College in 1949. He was employed by the Virginia Department of Highways for 35 years, as Assistant Resident Engineer in Wytheville, Resident Engineer in Tazewell, and Assistant State Bridge Design Engineer in Richmond. Dwight was a loving husband, father and granddad, who lived for his family. His sense of humor, mischievous grin and chuckle radiated to all. The family visitation will be held 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, October 17, at Bliley's-Central, 3801 Augusta Ave. Funeral services will be held 2:30 p.m. Saturday, October 18, St. Luke Lutheran Church, 7757 Chippenham Pkwy. Interment Hollywood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Luke Lutheran Church or Hospice of Virginia.
