James Linthicum Obituary

LINTHICUM, James Earl, 99, died October 14, 2008, at the Masonic Home of Virginia. He was born May 20, 1909 in Pittsylvania County near Climax, Va., in the home of his late parents, James Kelly Linthicum and Luzena Bradner Linthicum. He was married to Virgie Lone Smart of Patrick County from November 1934 until her death in July 1991. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carlton and Ivon Linthicum; and a sister, Ethel Davidson. He is survived by his two daughters, Algene L. Ashworth and husband, Charlie, of Richmond, Va., and Jane L. Bosley and husband, Bill, of Hamilton, Va.; one brother, Emmett Lacy Linthicum of Sacramento, Calif.; and a sister, Claire Cobb of Reno, Nev. Earl worked for the Railway Express Agency in Lynchburg, Va. He was a member of Lynchburg Hill City Lodge #183 and Scottish Rite for more than 50 years. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 17, at 10 a.m. in the chapel at the Masonic Home. Interment will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Fort Hill Memorial Park, Lynchburg, Va., with Masonic Rites at the graveside. Woody Funeral Home, Parham Chapel, is assisting the family.

Algene and family,
Sorry to learn of the loss of your father.
I worked with Earl while I was in school and he also worked part time at Lynchburg Oil Company Service Station.
Earl was such a very nice and thoughtful person.
