STRICKLER, Mildred Anne, born November 19, 1928, died October 15, 2008. She was the widow of Frank N. Strickler. She was preceded in death by her brother and sister, Ernest Horner and Phyllis Heath. Survivors include her daughter, Sandra S. Barnes; her son and daughter-in-law, Frank W. and Karen C. Strickler; her sisters, Doris Howell of Charlotte, N.C., Susie Hall of Richmond, Va., and Linda Scearce of Midlothian, Va.; five grandchildren, Edwin T. Barnes (Crystal), Christopher S. Strickler (Helen), Michael A. Strickler, Sara P. Strickler and Daniel T. Strickler; two great-grandchildren, Abby Caitlin Strickler and Christina Helen Strickler. Her career spanned 30 years with G.C. Murphy Company, where she became the first woman manager in the history of the company. A gathering of family and friends will be held 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd. A graveside service will be held 2:30 p.m. on Friday at Westhampton Memorial Park. If you would like to travel to the cemetery in procession with the family, please meet at the funeral home before 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
