I remember Mrs. Cabell in her kitchen in Waccabuc during the 1960's as she observed her children and friends go through all of the cultural changes we take for granted now. Her patience, wisdom and sense of humor encouraged me to keep on talking to those grown ups --keep the faith in society actually.

She was a wonderful example of civility and grace. She and her family made me happy.

Cyane was always a gracious hostess to me and Brandy, and the best part of our evenings was talking with her and absorbing some of her wisdom. We'll miss her very much.

My family and I have many wonderful memories of Cyane at her Wrightsville home at the Islander. She so generously shared her books, space and self with all of us. How I'll miss making meals, especialy when we made eggnog together one winter! And we must have talked over everything under the sun, usually over a glass of sherry.
I, for one, shall miss her.
