Verna Barlow Obituary

BARLOW, Verna Mae, 71, of Waverly, passed away on October 19, 2008. She was born in Ashland, W.Va., on September 4, 1937, to the late Clint Collins and Eva Vaught. Ms. Barlow was a longtime resident of Montpelier, where she raised her children as a loving and devoted mother. Survivors include two sons, Gary and wife, Vicky, of Severn, N.C., and George and wife, Susan, of Mechanicsville; four daughters, Donna Phelps and husband, David, of Richmond, Judy Balmer and husband, Robert, of Waverly, Tina Robinson of Severn, N.C., and Sharon Moss and husband, Franklin, of Rock Hill, S.C.; two brothers, Raymond Collins of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Earl Collins of Richmond; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her previous husband, Claude Barlow; and her daughter, Margie Ann Barlow. Visitation will be 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, at the Nelsen Funeral Home, Laburnum Chapel. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. the following day at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Washington Memorial Park. Memorial donations may be made to the Muscular Dystrophy Association, P.O. Box 78960, Phoenix, Ariz. 85062.
