MIDKIFF, Imogene Grizzard Cash "Nanny," 87, of Emporia, went to be with the Lord on October 22, 2008 after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's. She was the widow of W. Herman Cash and Floyd W. Midkiff; daughter of the late Lester J. Grizzard and Sallie Taylor Grizzard; and was predeceased by two sisters, Evelyn Harris Grizzard and Eloise Grizzard Tuck. She is survived by two daughters, Ann Cash Crewe and husband, Tommy, and Edith Cash Newsome and husband, John, all of Emporia; two stepsons, Steve (Jane) and Scott Midkiff (Elaine). She was a loving "Nanny" to four grandchildren, Kimberly Newsome Aldridge Fritz (Mike) of Biloxi, Miss., Pamela Newsome Carpenter Malone of Emporia, Jeffrey T. Crew (Dina) of O'Fallon, Illinois, and Jerry T. Crewe (Paige) of Emporia; two stepgrandchildren, Brandon and Brittany Midkiff; and eight great-grandchildren, Crystal Carpenter, Lauren and Jessica Aldridge, Austin and Emily Crewe, Katelyn Malone, Morgan Crewe and Stephen Malone; and a stepgreat-grandson, Mike Fritz Jr. "Sis" is also survived by her siblings, Quentin Grizzard of Emporia, Amy G. Bradley (Jerry) of Petersburg, Peggy G. Powell (Ben) of Portsmouth and Les Grizzard of Springfield; brother-in-law, Thomas Tuck of Petersburg. Mrs. Midkiff is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Mama's remains rest at Owen Funeral Home, Jarratt, Virginia, where visitation for family and friends will be held 6 to 8 p.m. on Saturday (tomorrow). At her request, graveside services will be held at Greensville Memorial Cemetery on Sunday, October 26, 2008 at 3 p.m.
