THORNTON, Mrs. Sarah B., of Richmond, departed this life July 7, 2008. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Thornton; and one stepdaughter, Pauline Stringfield. She is survived by one daughter, Sarah Warden; one son, Herman L. Brown Jr.; three grandchildren, Hiram Brown, Sharon Grant and Gregory Lockhart; five great- grandchildren; one brother, Willie Vaughan; three stepdaughters, three stepsons, a host of nieces, nephews and cousins; one daughter-in-law, Pearl Brown; three sisters-in-law, Esther Minor, Lessie Bell Vaughan and Virginia Vaughn; one brother-in-law, Lee Thornton; and other relatives and friends. Remains rest at Joseph Jenkins Jr. Funeral Home, 2011 Grayland Avenue. Funeral services will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Riverview Baptist Church, 2604 Idlewood Avenue, where remains will lie in state one hour prior funeral time. Dr. Stephen Hewlett, pastor, officiating.
