Joseph P. Smith

SMITH, Joseph P., 69, of Sandston, passed away Sunday, October 26, 2008. He was preceded in death by his parents, Argyll and Berniece Smith. He is survived by his wife of 31 years, Gloria; his two daughters, Wendy Prewitt and her husband, Robbie, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; Amy Whirlow of Raleigh, N.C.; a stepdaughter, Valerie Henshaw of Quinton; stepson, Kris Henshaw of Sandston; two grandchildren, Britton Prewitt, Trey Whirlow; and a brother, Argyll M. "Jack" Smith, Jr. of Holly Hill, Fla. Additionally, he is survived by his six "furry feline children", Casper, Sylvester, Rascal, Sugar, Ivory and Baby Neely. Joseph was a retired factory representative of Ford Motor Co. with 37 years of service. A memorial service will be held 7 p.m., Thursday, October 30, 2008 at the Nelsen Funeral Home & Crematory, 4650 S. Laburnum Ave., Richmond. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Committal will be private. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the S.P.C.A., 2519 Hermitage Rd., Richmond, Va. 23220.
