He was born in South Charleston to the late Lester and Deloris Smith. He was also preceded in death by his son, Jason Smith.
Bernard worked as a truck driver for Arrow Concrete. He was a member of Teamsters Local 175.
He was an avid Hunter and loved to tinker with cars, motorcycles and rail buggies.
Surviving is his wife, Elizabeth Smith of St. Albans; Daughter, Alicia Smith of St. Albans; sister, Dawnita McCown of Nitro; grandchildren, Katelyn Smith, Stephanie Smith, Logan Bell and Jaslyn Walker; great grandchildren, Rylen, Kylie and Lilly.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, November 20, 2025 at Bartlett-Nichols Funeral Home, St. Albans. Burial will follow in Cunningham Memorial Park, St. Albans, WV.
The family will receive friends from 1 to 2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.
