Granville Davis Obituary

DAVIS, Granville Daniel Jr. "Dude", passed away October 29, 2008. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Annie, who provided him with the best care anyone could ever hope for. He also is survived by his daughter, Deborah Jones; a sister, Ethel D. Hines; three grandchildren, Kim, Kerry and Chris Jones; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Dude was a WWII Navy veteran and an active member of the American Legion Midlothian Post 186. He was a member of St. Luke's United Methodist Church and retired from American Tobacco Co. after 32 years of service. Visitation will be at Bliley's - Chippenham on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. The funeral service will be 9 a.m. Monday at Bliley's followed by burial at the Amelia Veterans Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to either St. Luke's United Methodist Church (4101 Fordham Rd., Richmond, Va. 23236) or to a special account that has been set up for Debbie's cancer-related medical expenses (checks should be made payable to Chris Jones, 1029 N. Stuart St., 304, Arlington, Va. 22201).

Annie, we just read of Dude's death in the Church newsletter. Sorry we can't make it to his funeral. Dude was one "special" guy. We will always remember and cherish him.

Dear Annie , We were saddened to learn of Dude's passing . He always brightened the party whenever we were visiting Vernon .
His famous comment " My lips are sealed " will always be remembered . Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family .

I always loved you and "Dude", but then that is no big thing. You both are so lovable and "Dude" was a "trip".
