Kimberly-Robyn Grimes Lim Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch on Nov. 1, 2008.
LIM, Kimberly-Robyn Grimes. The family of Kimberly-Robyn Grimes Lim would like to inform the many of you whom she loved in this community that she is finally at peace and with her God. She passed away at home in Tappahannock on Wednesday, October 30, 2008 surrounded by her family. She was born October 14, 1980 to her loving parents, Raymond and Brenda Grimes. She shared her life with her sister, Jennifer; her devoted husband, Ghuang Shun "Light"; and hundreds of others. Her life was rich and full, and she touched so many people with her tender spirit. Happiness came easily to her, and she experienced all that life had to offer. Being in nature was one of her biggest inspirations. She loved skydiving, watersports, triathlons, mountain climbing, bodybuilding and traveling. Her devotion to God and family were unmatched. She brought His love to everyone she met, and carried it with her to Africa, China, Korea, Guatemala, and all over the United States. She shared His peace and energy with the children whom she adored at Homestead Academy, where she taught until her body refused to do it anymore. Her legacy, for all those who knew her, will be her giving. She provided for everyone, in ways they needed most - she gave of her possessions, her time, her strength. She overcame much in her short life, and despite numerous health issues, she was determined not to let them dictate how she lived. Cancer may have taken her life, but it could not take her spirit. She loved her life. She loved living. We are grateful we could be part of it. Funeral services will be held 2 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2008 in the Marks-Bristow Funeral Home, Tappahannock. Interment will follow in Essex Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, she would like people to contribute to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Pl., Memphis, Tenn. 38105.

Dear Mrs. Grimes, Raymond, Light, and Jennifer,

When I think of Homestead, I don't just think of school. I think of my family. You all ARE my family. Kimmy was and still is my family. She brightened up every school day, and even after I graduated, we still kept in close contact. We shared our secrets, laughs, and love. She helped me to find Christ, as you all already know. She planted and watered those seeds with the help of God. I don't feel that there is much she hasn't accomplished in her life. I have so many memories with her that I shall cherish forever. Some of her last words to me were, "When I go, just know that it isn't goodbye. We will see each other again someday." I hang on so closely to those words because they are so true. They bring me great comfort. I know there is nothing really that people themselves can say that will bring any comfort, but just try to ponder upon her words. I love you all very, very much. I will honor her in every way that I know how. God bless you all in this time of confusion and loss.

Ray and Brenda (and Jen, too)- I'm thinking of you and remembering those sweet little girls I babysat all those years ago. Even though time passes and people grow apart, you all will always hold a special place in my heart. May God comfort you during this time of sorrow and loving memories bring you peace.
Love,
Angie (Greene)

Dear Mrs. Grimes,
Over the last few days I have cried many tears. Happy and sad ones. Selfishly, I grieve over the time I will not be able to spend with Kimberly. At the same time I can smile because I know that she is rejoicing and praising the Lord, and we will all see her again. Kimberly was a blessing to many people. I believe that even from a distance people could sense that Kimberly was filled with love and peace. During this sad time I pray that God will fill you with the same sense of peace and make His presence clearly known to you.

Dear Brenda, Raymond, Jennifer and Light,

My prayers are with all of you during this difficult moment. I did not have the opportunity to meet Kimmie, but I do know that she deeply touched the lives of many people. I am so grateful that my nephew and sister, Connor and Sherry Derby, had the blessing of being touched by her loving and kind nature. Please know that although Kimmie may not be with you in body, she is always with you in spirit.

Blessings,
