LEWIS, Helen Melba Hayes, born May 27, 1931 in Asheville, N.C., passed away October 27, 2008 in Richmond, Va. She came to Richmond in 1950 and worked at WRNL Radio Station as an announcer. She also worked at Blue Cross Blue Shield as a public information supervisor until May 1988. She was a past president of the Westover Hills Civic Association and Meadowbrook Country Club Women's Association. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Eugene D. Lewis Jr.; two stepsons, Eugene D. Lewis III and J. Gregory Lewis and his wife, Barbara; three grandchildren, Jessica Haines and her husband, Johnathan, John Gregory Jr. and Wesley Duncan; great-grandchildren, Katyrn and Isacc; her brother and sister-in-law, W.L. Haynes Jr. and Peggy; nieces and nephew, Gaylen, Susan and David. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, November 5, 2008 at Bliley's - Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Road.
