James Butler Obituary

BUTLER, Mr. James P. Butler, age 92, of Sandy Springs, Ga., died November 6, 2008. He was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia R. Butler. Mr. Butler was a graduate of Brown University, class of 1938. Before entering the armed forces, he was a mill operator in Vermont. He served as a 1st Lt. in the U.S. Army in WWII in the South Pacific. After serving his country from 1942 to 1946, he entered the banking industry in Boston and in 1983 retired from banking after serving banks in several cities in the United States. Mr. Butler is survived by his daughter, Dorothy B. Barnes and her husband, Peter of Dunwoody; his son, Jim Butler and his wife, JoAnn Carson of Brooklyn, N.Y.; his brother, E. Eric Butler and his wife, Mary of Brunswick, Maine; and two grandchildren, Melissa Burns and John Burns. Graveside services will be held Saturday, November 8, 2008 at 11 a.m. in Arlington Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to Make-A-Wish Foundation, 1775 The Exchange SE, Suite 200, Atlanta, Ga. 30309. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday morning at Sandy Springs Chapel Funeral Directors, 136 Mt. Vernon Hwy., Sandy Springs, Georgia.

Mr. Butler,
Sir, I would just like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country when you served with the U.S. Army in the Pacific during WW II and for being a member of the Greatest Generation. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
