Laura Jean Elder Griffith

GRIFFITH, Laura Jean Elder, daughter of Mary and Percy Elder, went home to be with the Lord and her husband, Jimmy Griffith, on November 12, 2008, at the age of 86. Jean was a retired employee of Thalhimers. After her retirement, her days were busy taking care of her husband, her two granddaughters, doing volunteer at Henrico Doctors Hospital and at her beloved Aldersgate United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, John "Pud" Griffith and his wife, Linda; loving granddaughters, Shelley Griffith and Sarah Griffith; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Justin Griffith, Brandon Griffith, James Griffith, and Laney Robinette. She is also survived by sister- in-law, Merle Elder of Dewitt Va., and numerous nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends at the Mechanicsville Chapel, Bennett Funeral Home, 8014 Lee-Davis Rd., Mechanicsville, Va. from 1 to 8 p.m. on Sunday, November 16. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, November 17 at Aldersgate United Methodist Church, 3006 E. Laburnum Ave., with Rev. William Freeman officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Aldersgate United Methodist Church Trustee Fund.
