Jack Dempsey Higgins

HIGGINS, Jack Dempsey, age 89, of Blacksburg, died Tuesday, November 18, 2008 at Manakin Sabot, Va. He was born in Wetzel County, W.Va., on September 21, 1919 to the late James O. and Columbia Rush Higgins. He was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Agnes Louise Higgins. He graduated from Fairmount State College with a Bachelor of Science in 1950. He retired from Hercules, Inc. after 33 years of service. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Nancy H. and Hank Nolde of Manakin Sabot, Va.; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, November 21, 2008 at 11 a.m. in the McCoy Funeral Home Chapel, with Mr. Porter Riner officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens, Christiansburg. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday evening at McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Drive, SW, Blacksburg.
