Martha Harman Obituary

Published by Bliley's Funeral Home - Chippenham from Dec. 4 to Dec. 5, 2008.
HARMAN, Martha Shaffer. On December 3, 2008, God welcomed home Martha Shaffer Harman, just 16 days short of her 100th birthday. Born December 19, 1908 in Bowmansdale, Pa., she was the youngest of three. Martha was predeceased by her husband of 63 years, Ralph Charles Harman. Together they were dedicated members of Berryman Methodist Church in South Richmond, and for many years, Martha volunteered at the Methodist Home for Ladies. At the time of her passing, she was a member of Westover Hills United Methodist Church. Martha "Nanny" is survived by her only child, Ralph Charles Harman Jr. and his wife, Jackquelyn Collier Harman; grandsons, Ralph Charles III "Chip" and wife, Linda, Alan Scott Harman and Noel Craig Harman and wife, Rebecca Toy; great-grandchildren, Steven Michael, Sarah Elizabeth, Thomas Wyeth and Bruce Craig. The Harman family is grateful to Mrs. Brenda Hatcher who, along with her extended family, was Martha's caregiver for 12 years, allowing her to live out her days in her home. Visitation will be at Bliley's-Chippenham, 6900 Hull Street Rd., on Friday, December 5, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8:30 p.m. Graveside services will be held at Forest Lawn Cemetery at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 6. In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be sent to Westover Hills United Methodist Church. Martha Harman's family and friends will miss her "the most." "Well done, thou good and faithful servant."
