Dorothy Steadman Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Dec. 5 to Dec. 6, 2008.
STEADMAN, Dorothy D., 86, died peacefully December 2, 2008 in Richmond, Va., after a short illness. Born in Aurora, N.C., she moved to Norfolk, Va. when she was four years old and lived most of her life there except for two years in Hawaii, two years in Washington, D.C. and, most recently, in Richmond for the past 10 years. She was preceded in death by her husband, Harold Brooks Steadman. She is survived by her loving son, Dr. Robert Brooks Steadman and his wife, Susan; and their children, Charles Brooks Steadman, Robert Grant Steadman and Caroline Frances Steadman, all of Richmond. A memorial service will be held Saturday, December 6, 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Episcopal Church, 12991 River Road, Richmond, Va., 23238. The family suggests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to St. Mary's Episcopal Church.

You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this time of sorrow. Please be comforted in knowing that Mrs. Steadman is in God's loving hands. She was a most gracious and kind lady. It was an honor to have known her and to have been her neighbor on Sturgis Street for so many years.
