Gregory Curtis Obituary

Published by Richmond Times-Dispatch from Dec. 6 to Dec. 7, 2008.
CURTIS, Gregory S., 57, was suddenly called home to be with our Heavenly father on December 4, 2008. He was born June 3, 1951 in Hempstead, N.Y., to Robert and Rose Curtis. Greg served in the U.S. Air Force in the late 1970s and then worked in the insurance industry in Wilkesboro, N.C. and the Richmond area. Greg was very active in the Chesterfield Youth Softball Association (CYSA) as a manager and a coach for over 30 years and was the current President of the Association. He was a proud veteran, a true American patriot and a die-hard New York Yankees fan. Greg's huge heart and generosity were evident in everything he did. Left to cherish his memory are his wife, Angela, of Chesterfield, Va.; daughter and son-in-law, Holly and Kevin Scholl of Mechanicsville; daughters, Tiffany and Kimberly Curtis and Samantha and Amanda Ray; and his loyal pets, Cuddles and Missy, all of Chesterfield. He is also survived by his mother, Rose Curtis of Midlothian; brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert, Glen, Karla and Janice Curtis; 13 nieces and nephews; longtime friend, Caroline Curtis; as well as many other friends and colleagues. He was taken from us much too soon and will remain in our hearts and minds forever. A funeral service will be held Monday, December 8 at 11 a.m., at Woody Funeral Home, Huguenot Chapel, with interment following at Dale Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Sunday, December 7 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at the Woody Huguenot Chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or to the Chesterfield Youth Softball Association (CYSA) at 7424 Barkbridge Road, Chesterfield, Va. 23832.

So sorry to hear about Greg's passing. I mostly knew Greg as a friend from high school. Although we only touched base a few times in recent years, Greg was a good man and friend. He will be missed. Your families will be in my prayers as you go through this difficult time. God bless.

Saying "I'm sorry" could never say enough. There is no one who effected my "softball life" more than Greg and very few who effected my overall life more. There are so many things in my character that are... because of his influences. He gave me the best years of my youth. I love him dearly. Please know that I am here for all of you... always.

Love,
T.L. Harris-Craddock

Holly & family,

I am so sorry to hear about Greg, he will be greatly missed. He was a very generous, patient and kind man when it came to our Tornadoes softball team. Those where some of the most fun times I had playing softball and will always cherish them. If you or your family need anything please do not hesitate to call. Again I am so sorry.
